I’m pretty excited about about the new Assistive Touch feature in the upcoming iOS 5. Mac Rumors reports:

The Assistive Touch settings were in place in iOS’s accessibility settings in previous betas, but is only now active. The new features are meant to provide additional interactivity for those who might have trouble using the traditional gestures and buttons on the iPad.

Now I just need one more feature: Bluetooth mouse support. Yes, I know jailbreaking it would get me that feature. No, I wouldn’t risk breaking my device and voiding the warranty.

I’ve added Making Self-Employment Work for People with Disabilities by Cary Griffin & David Hammis to my wishlist. It might just be the first item I actually buy for myself from my wishlist.

Perfect for sharing with individuals with disabilities and their families, this guidebook shows how self-employment can work and offers the realistic, practical advice needed to get a small business off to a strong start.

We Hate Stairs: A creative community

The idea is that there are people with disabilities who spend a lot of time alone and who have skills that, combined with others' skills, could be used to make or do some pretty cool things.

I am thinking of starting a blog similar to usesthis.com but focused on assistive technology.

Why campus life was perfect for me

People with disabilities thrive on independence. We go through a great deal of trouble to get it. And it's excruciatingly difficult to give it up.

A place for creative crips

Many people with disabilities find themselves spending a fair amount of time at home. That isolation can be frustrating. But what if there was a place where we could get to know others like us and use our skills to make/do something cool?

Not your average run of the meal experience

Eating out can be such a hassle, right? Waiting in line to see the host, waiting to be seated, waiting to be served, waiting to pay, and on and on. Add disability to the mix and things get even more complicated.

A more fluid social life

Lately I have, for better or for worse, been neglecting the social side of the interwebs. And since my work and various projects often have me staring into the void of RGB, miserably alone and loathing my pathetic existence, I think it's important to spend a little time connecting with people online.

Hit the ground running

In my previous post, I mentioned things that I wanted to accomplish in 2011. Well, it seems I have really hit the ground running. In this entry, I talk about my new job as well as how my resolutions for 2011 are panning out so far.

My handful of worthy goals for 2011

A little reflection goes a long way. With the new year on the horizon, I look at what I hope 2011 has in store for me.

Of writing fiction during NaNoWriMo

NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is a group novel-writing event that is held every November all around the world. Here is a forum conversation between me and a fellow participant from Mississippi.

Well that didn’t go so well

If you were an unfortunate fan of my previous entry, you will be disappointed by this one. Am I going to get around to making a premium WordPress Theme? Short answer: Probably not.

This past year was research (or “A premium WordPress theme in two weeks”)

One premium WordPress theme. Two weeks. I discuss my frustration with the government and how I intend to work one way or another.

The tangible world

Being able to reach out and grab something is an empowering feeling. There is a certain joy in the tangibility of things. Physical connections are part of our human nature. Based on a conversation I had with my brother, and fellow crip, Matt.

A car negotiation from the perspective of the car

Found this writing prompt on Writer's Digest and decided to accept the challenge. It's a first person account of a used car sale from the eyes (headlights?) of the car in question.
